Here are three ways to stand out at the Career Fair.
1. Do your Research.
Look through the companies that have registered to attend and take note of who is hiring positions that you are interested in learning more about. Aim to speak to 5-10 companies at the career fair. Do your research on those companies, including what they do, the positions they are hiring for, and what questions you may have.
2. Practice speaking about your experience.
You want to feel prepared when you approach a recruiter at the Career Fair. You should always open with a casual greeting, asking them about their day or connecting with them in some way.
3. Understand your values.
Companies have their own set of core values they keep in mind to guide their business decisions and processes. As an individual, you should also have your own values and non-negotiables to guide your actions throughout the day. Ask yourself what your priorities are, and how you can intentionally put them into practice in your daily life. People will then understand what motivates you, and you will attract the people and projects that align with your values.
Creating a strong personal brand is crucial to being a memorable candidate and getting the most out of your experience in the professional world!
