Why you should apply to be an Orfalea College of Business Student Leader

When you think of the Orfalea College of Business, a few things may come to mind; the Silo, business professional attire, wind gusts through the breezeway, etc. But nestled in offices and classrooms are groups of students who are employed by OCOB.

The Orfalea College of Business is home to six student-led programs: Peer Advisors, Peer Mentoring, Career Peer Advising, Ambassadors, Multicultural Business Program Interns, and Transfer-Mation Peer Leaders.

Each position ranges in its application requirements, time commitment, and responsibilities. Please note that you may only be in one paid student leadership role at a time. However, you are encouraged to apply to multiple programs to fully explore opportunities and better understand your interests as a prospective student leader. Keep reading to learn more about how becoming a Student Leader could benefit you down the line!

1. Working as a Student Leader teaches you time management skills that will directly translate to full-time roles after you graduate. Balancing a part-time role and academic obligations is difficult, but valuable experience!
   

2. Each role is rooted in teamwork and communication. By taking on a role in one of these six teams, you will quickly learn how to juggle team dynamics and different working styles.

3. Student Leader roles are designed with student schedules in mind. Advisors understand that school comes first and as an added benefit, you will not have to commute off-campus to participate in any of these programs!

4. Involvement as a Student Leader will grant you the opportunity to make an impact within the College of Business. Throughout the year, there are several trainings, college-wide conferences/events, and conversations with administration that take place with Student Leaders.
